In 2003, Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center opened the Mt. Carmel Regional Heart Center. The Heart Center is a more than 3 million dollar investment in the fight against heart disease in Southeast Kansas. In Crawford County it is estimated that 48% of all deaths are a result of heart disease, compare that to the national average of 32% and it is easy to see the need for quality heart care in our community.
